This site is dedicated to the memory of Johnny Gonsales.

Johnny was born in Lochgelly on May 07, 1948. He is much loved and will always be remembered by all his friends and family. He was a hard working man from the time he was 15 when he got his first job working on a local farm. He was married in 1969 and four children followed thereafter, 3 boys and one girl. After working in the Dockyard for many years he was made redundant and then became a foster carer looking after countless children that spread over a 20 year period. After all his four children had left home, getting married and having children of their own the family grew bigger. Three daughter-in-laws and one son-in-law became part of his extended family then the fun began and he got seven grandchildren. One grandchild was born asleep on 16.03.96 and one daughter-in-law passed away on 14.12.07. Not only was Johnny adored and greatly valued by his whole family he was also viewed this way by his local community. For thirteen years he was Santa Claus to so many children at the local Nursery, playgroup and Gordon Cottage. He loved doing his charity work for Cystic Fibrosis by doing the Cystic fibrosis charity cycle which takes place every May. Starting from Callander-Ballquider-Killin. The route was either 28 miles or 50 miles long whichever end destination you choose. He was nominated for the Forth One Local Hero Award 2011, this he won by far. In June 2011 he was diagnosed with Motor Nuerones Disease after a year of tests and appointments trying to figure out what was wrong. During the course of his illness he required equipment to help make his daily life easier, one of these things was a Wet Floor Room. After the local council allocated so much grant to pay for this much needed Wet Room 20% was still needed to be raised. That is when the local community kicked into action to help a man who was there to help them anytime he could. The 20% was raised by having raffles, local shop collecting money in a tub and people simply handing money over to members of the family or other in the community who were helping out in that regard. By doing this over £1300 was raised and the work began in January. Unfortunatley Johnny only got the use of the Wet Room four times before his passing. MND is a progressive disease of which there is no cure. He died on 06.02.12 after contracting a chest infection. Johnny will never be forgotten by anyone who had the priviledge to meet him.
